Mole Removal

Moles are a common feature of the skin and appear as small brown lesions. Most moles are flat and asymptomatic. However, in some cases they can become a nuisance if they become bulky and moles on the face can cause cosmetic embarrassment. Moles can sometimes be cancerous and this may be indicated by changes in size, shape, colour or bleeding.

What options do I have for mole removal?

Mr Huq is an expert in treating skin lesions and will discuss with you the best treatment option to deal with your mole. The treatments available are:

  • Shave Removal : Small moles can be simply shaved away using a scalpel to leave a small pink mark that fades with time.
  • Excision Removal : Under local anaesthetic the mole is cut away leaving behind a small scar that fades with time.

Are there any complications?

Like any surgical procedure, mole excision too may result in complications. These occur rarely, but include wound infection, bleeding and lumpy scars.
